In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”
-Albert Camus

The start of the New Year always contrasts the seasons for me: I am at the conclusion of an annual stay in the summer warmth of the Southern Hemisphere and will be making my way back to the colder climate of the Northern Hemisphere soon.

I’ve been savouring the summer sunshine on my bare shoulders (after I layer on a healthy amount of sunscreen!), listening to the birdsong every morning at sunrise, and the enjoying the bounty of summer fruits and flowers. Soon I’ll be enjoying the beauty of a fresh layer of snow on the ground, the ritual of putting on the oven and preparing a roast dinner, and lighting my favorite candles each evening.

No mater which season I’m experiencing, I want to enjoy the present season and anticipate the coming season… which is just around the corner.

How about you: How do you honour the seasons? Do you enjoy special rituals or meals to mark each season?
